Kraschewski’s Owl “Nightwatch” (WOD 2017 #10)

Saw an image of this go by on Facebook, and chased the links to Sara Adam’s wonderful website, http://www.happyfolding.com. This is another of her excellent video tutorials – you can learn it yourself at this direct link: http://www.happyfolding.com/instructions-kraschewski-nightwatch.

It’s a really charming piece, very solidly 3D due to the clever locks front and back that shape the body. I have to admit that it didn’t quite pass the “Jon test” (that’s where I show my non-origami-hobbyist husband the thing and say “hey, what’s this?”) but I think anyone who does origami will see the cute little owl there.

I folded this from some foil momigami, which was a little hard to photograph, but I liked the contrast of the gold eyes with the dark paper anyway.

This is my tenth fold for World Origami Days 2017. What are you folding?
